Australian Citizenship Quiz and the CitPrep Labs website

Effective and last updated: 18 October 2026

The essentials: the app does not require an account. Your study progress and saved test results stay in the app’s local storage. Google AdMob processes data to provide advertising. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send.

1. About this policy

CitPrep Labs develops Australian Citizenship Quiz (also labelled AusCit on a device; Android package com.citprep.au). This policy explains information handled by the app, its advertising provider, this website and our support email. It covers the current Android app and the website at citpreplabs.com.

The app is an independent study aid. It does not represent, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by, the Australian Government or the Department of Home Affairs. We do not ask for citizenship application records, identity documents or payment details to use the app.

2. Progress saved on your device

The app saves information in Android’s private app storage so it can show your progress between sessions. This includes your daily question count, total questions studied, XP, current and best study streaks, last study date, and saved mock-exam results such as dates, overall scores and Australian Values results.

CitPrep Labs does not operate an account system or a server that receives or synchronises this study progress or test history. Questions and explanations are included with the app. Advertising data described below is handled separately.

3. Advertising and Google AdMob

The app includes banner ads provided through the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). The SDK can collect and share information with Google and its advertising systems, including:

InformationExamples
Network and general locationYour IP address, which may be used to estimate an approximate location.
App and ad interactionsApp launches and interactions with advertising, such as taps or views.
DiagnosticsApp/SDK performance information, including launch timing, hangs and energy use.
Device identifiersThe Android advertising ID, app set ID and, where applicable, other device or account-related identifiers.

Google uses this information for advertising, measurement/analytics and fraud prevention. The data used and whether ads are personalised depend on the available identifiers, Google’s services, applicable requirements and your privacy settings. The app does not request permission to access precise GPS location.

Google explains its processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. These policies also explain Google’s retention practices and controls. Google’s Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure provides further technical detail.

4. When you contact us

If you email citprep.labs@gmail.com, we receive your email address, the name shown by your email service, your message and any attachments you send. We use this information to respond, investigate app problems and manage your request. Our mailbox is provided by Google Gmail.

Share only what is needed for support. Please do not send passwords, identity documents, immigration records or other sensitive application information.

5. When you visit this website

This is a static website hosted by DreamHost. We have not added advertising, analytics trackers, contact forms or tracking cookies to these pages. Your browser requests page files from the hosting service, which can process technical information such as IP address, requested page, time, browser/device information and error records for delivery, security and operation.

See the DreamHost Privacy Policy for the hosting provider’s handling of information. Following a link to Google, Home Affairs or another website takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. Opening an email link uses your chosen email application.

6. Providers and sharing

The providers relevant to this app and website are Google AdMob for app advertising, Google Gmail for support correspondence, and DreamHost for website hosting. These providers may process information on servers outside your country under their own applicable terms and privacy policies.

Your locally saved study progress and test history are not sent to these providers by our app code. Information you voluntarily include in a support email is processed by the email services involved. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to address security, abuse or a legal claim.

7. Retention and deletion

  • Local progress and history: remain in the app’s storage until removed, for example by clearing the app’s storage/data in Android Settings or uninstalling it. CitPrep Labs cannot remotely view, restore or delete this local information.
  • Support correspondence: is kept in our support mailbox while needed to handle enquiries and retain necessary support, security or legal records. You can ask us to delete correspondence or other personal information you have sent us by emailing the privacy contact above. We may retain information where a legal obligation or legitimate record-keeping need requires it.
  • Advertising and hosting records: are retained according to the relevant provider’s practices. Google’s privacy policy and DreamHost’s privacy policy explain their handling. Removing local app data does not itself remove records already held by those providers.

8. Your choices

You can remove the app’s saved progress through Android’s app storage settings. This removes your saved progress and test history from that installation. There is no CitPrep Labs account to delete.

Android provides controls to reset or delete the advertising ID, depending on your Android version. Google also provides My Ad Center and Data & privacy controls. These controls can affect personalisation and identifiers; they do not necessarily stop all advertising or all data needed for ad delivery and security.

For questions or requests to access, correct or delete personal information you have provided directly to CitPrep Labs, email citprep.labs@gmail.com. We may need enough information to verify and locate your request. We cannot identify an individual’s local study history from an email address.

9. Security

Local progress uses Android’s private app storage. This website uses HTTPS when you access its secure address, and Google documents encryption in transit for data collected by its Mobile Ads SDK. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep your device and email account secure, and avoid sending sensitive material in support messages.

10. Children and privacy

The app is a study aid for people preparing for the Australian citizenship test. It does not ask users to create profiles or enter their age. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us through support correspondence, contact us so we can review and address it.

11. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the app, its providers or our practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes that require an additional notice or choice will be handled as applicable.

For app support or privacy enquiries, contact CitPrep Labs at citprep.labs@gmail.com.
